BCN Visitors - Fabrizio

This week, my friend Fabrizio came to visit me - I hadn't seen Fabri since I left Milan over a couple years' ago now, so as with all my BCN Visitors, it was lovely catching-up with him while we ate/drank our way around Barcelona! Fabrizio and I often find ourselves talking about relationships and the struggles we face with our companions; somehow, he and I have very similar demons....

We went to two of my favorite BCN restaurants: Tragaluz & Bar Mut. There was not much atmosphere at Tragaluz, it's a really large restaurant over 2 floors so unless it's packed, it can feel a little quiet but the delicious bottle of wine we had made us forget that pretty quickly and then that, topped with tasting of desserts, we merrily floated our way back home... Bar Mut on the other hand is small wine bar that serves small plates - I have a hard time calling them tapas because each little plate feels like a meal! My favorite

I took Fabrizio to MACBA, Barcelona's modern art museum in the Raval because I hadn't been there since I moved back - it's a spectacular building is the work of Richard Meier, it shines very bright as it contrasts with its much older architectural surroundings. I found the exhibitions and permanent collections disappointing which is a real shame. I'm hoping that Barcelona/Catalunya will be home to some touring exhibits soon and not so reliant on its history or closed in under its national identity.
