MamaKikoy & I at Gallito under the W Hotel

It was a gorgeous sunny day so MamaKikoy decided to whisk me off to the beach. In the 10 or so years since I left Barcelona, they've really developed the barrio known as Barceloneta, which is home to the old port of Barcelona (Port Vell) as well as the beach. They have built-up the end of the pier by building a W Hotel there (designed by Ricardo Bofill) which reminds me of the Burj El Arab in Dubai as it also looks like a sail.

There's a lovely restaurant under the hotel that gives right on the beach called Gallito, which is owned by En Compania De Lobos, restauranteurs with locales in Spain, Mexico and Colombia. Sitting on their terrace, eating their yummy food, drinking a glass of wine while looking out at the sea is exactly what I needed after my big move. Thanks mamkikoy!
